Killer...Average

This week's review is on Killer Elete. More like Killer Average: a solid 2.5/5 stars if I absolutely had to place it.  The director could have done something so cool with this, yet it was...disappointing.
  Robert DeNiro and Jason Statham are perfect for any action role.  They have the air of danger around them that demands respect and attention.  Moreover, these two can actually act.  They actually take on the role they are assigned and they have more than enough experience and ability to play the part.  To me, the other actors were much weaker in ability, relying solely on how many swear words they can spit out to make them seem more badass...blah

The plot for this is relatively simple:  Based on a 'true' (officially denied) story, Jason Statham plays a retired assassin, Danny, hired to kill three (four really) ex british black ops agents. 
  Somewhere the plot diverges from this mercifully simple main thread into a strange conspiracy ridden mess.  There's an introduction of a board of old men that are protecting these specific ex agents. After a bit, this board disappears, why they are there in the first place is beyond me.  They are not important to the movie, but they may have been integral in the book.  From my point of view, they should have been left out.
     Similarly, the british government official that is involved.  He may be important to the book, but he doesn't play a huge role in the film and could have been left out.

As always here is the link to the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.  Sadly, I agree with the critics on this one.  It's a little dull in story to be based off a book.  However, it is definitely not as bad as they say.  The action sequence are intense and end in pure bloody joy.  There are some strange points (like Statham getting the crap beat out of him hand to hand, and then beating the crap out of two people tied to a chair), but on the whole the film leaves one desiring something more.

I honestly can't decide whether or not Killer Elete was a good movie.  It is definitely not as bad the critics think, but it had the potential to be so much better...
